Thank you to everyone who came out to see the show last weekend. As excited as we were, there is always a bit of fear when it comes to how an audience will respond to the final product. The audience is one of the most powerful characters in any play because if they don’t buy it and participate the journey is painful for everyone.
The Arts Culture Alliance is presenting a new exhibition of recent photographs by Dean Rice of Knoxville from December 4 23, 2015 at the Emporium Center. These photographs show the faces of Syrian children who now live in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in the desert of Jordan and children who are orphaned living in Amman, Jordan. “We talk often of instability in the Middle East, and today we struggle with balancing our national security interests with our humanitarian desires to help the helpless,” says Dean Rice.

We tried for years to close some of the smaller less efficient schools, it not easy to ask people to give up tiny schools that they went to school in and go to something bigger, but with the curriculum the way it is now, with everything you asking the kids to learn now it is an instance where bigger is better. To be able to accommodate those kids who want to pursue fine arts at the same time be able to accommodate the changes we got in the demographics where you having to address cultural differences and do that smoothly, requires some size and requires people on staff that have very specific skill sets beyond just teaching to do that bigger schools give you that weight and give you the opportunity to staff accordingly..
